Summerland Remembers the Defenders of the Empire: Exhibit Opening

  • Summerland Museum & Archives 9521 Wharton Street Summerland, BC, V0H 1Z0 Canada (map)

Come to the opening of our new exhibit entitled Summerland Remembers the Defenders of the Empire.

Known as "The Great War," the outbreak of the First World War changed the lives of many living in Summerland, but what happened as the war drew to a close? This exhibit explores the end of the war, its effects on Summerland soldiers, and what it was like to pick up the pieces.

Paul Randall, Retired Major and Creative Director behind the exhibit, will give a brief presentation on his research process, the stories he uncovered, and the importance of remembering this history.

We would also like to thank the Sleeping Giant Fruit Winery for their generous donation of wine for this event! We would also like to thank the BC Rural Dividend Fund for a grant that has enabled us to provide this event.
