Trout Creek Guided Bike Tour

  • Summerland Museum and Archives 9521 Wharton Street Summerland, BC, V0H 1Z0 Canada (map)

Enjoy a casual Saturday morning guided bike tour to discover some of Summerland's history in the Trout Creek neighbourhood. Pedal beside orchards on paved or gravel roads with stops along the way to get a peek at a 110-year-old former schoolhouse, a 130-year-old barn and of course the creek itself. Find out about Duncan Woods, a colourful character with lofty real estate dreams for the neighbourhood. Get a bird's-eye view of the delta as you look out on landmarks. On Johnson Street learn about Trout Creek's third schoolhouse and the South Okanagan Hindu Temple before heading to Blossom Fruit Stand to conclude the tour!

Guided by local historian and author Mary Trainer in collaboration with the Okanagan Historical Society.

Tour duration: Approximately 2 hours.

Biking difficulty: Easy - mostly flat with one hill that can be walked up if needed.

A water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, good shoes, and clothing layers appropriate for the weather are strongly recommended. Please ensure that your tires are inflated beforehand and wear a helmet.

The tour ends at Blossom Fruit Stand where you can buy a drink or treat (they serve ice cream!), relax at the picnic tables, and use the washroom. Approximately 10 minute bike ride back to the starting point.
